Brighton Aerial Arts

FAQ's

Am I suitable?
Drop in classes are available for adults ages 16+, all genders and complete beginners welcome (although it helps if you have a good general level of fitness). Anyone can get involved in aerial training if you're willing to put the work in and are up for a challenge!

How do I book?
All classes need to be pre booked and pre paid via the website in advance. There is a limited number of students per class in order to make sure everyone gets enough time up in the air!

What level am I?
If you have trained aerial before and are unsure which class is suitable feel free to contact us via email. Generally speaking improvers should be able to do :straddle, hox, mermaid, gazel, amazon. Intermediates should be able to star on the bar, perform beats to sit, single leg hox & work on the top bar confidently. Advanced level should be able to perform dynamic sequences, single leg/arm work & drops (un/assisted).

What should I bring and wear?
You will need a water bottle and yoga mat (optional) for class. It is advisable to wear fitted clothing that will not catch on the equipment. If you have sensitive skin wearing a long sleeved top and long leggings can help to minimise the equipment rubbing on the elbows, back and backs of knee's which can become sore. Some students may want to double up on their leggings. Training/grip gloves are NOT advised unless you have an open wound on your hand. We train in socks or (clean!) feet. You may wear trainers for the warm up if you choose.

What happens if I am late to class?
Students who are more than 5 mins late to class will not be allowed to participate, this is because our warm up is approx 10 mins long and essential to your training. I am not insured to teach you if you have not complete an adequate warm up and arriving late disrupts your fellow students from their class if I need to take you aside and give you personalised instructions. If you are more than 5 mins late you will not be refunded for any classes missed- Thank you for your understanding

What equipment am I using?
Classes taught from Kemptown use 3 freestanding frames (max height 3.5m from top of the hoop). Each class will have 2 large A-frames and 1 small practice frame, so there will be 3 hoops available in every class. Classes taught from Hove use up to 7 swivel ceiling points (max height 2.8m) and have 6/7 hoops available during class.
