Brighton Aerial Arts
FAQ's

Am I suitable for group classes?
Drop in classes are available for adults ages 16+, all genders and complete beginners welcome (although it helps if you have a good general level of fitness). Anyone can get involved in aerial training- no matter your size, shape or fitness level, as long as you're willing to put the work in and are up for a challenge!

Who is not suitable for aerial classes?
Teens under 16 are not suitable for group classes- anyone aged 16-18 must have their liability waiver signed off by a parent of guardian in order to participate. Anyone who has experienced a head injury or head trauma within  the last year should not participate. Anyone who is pregnant is not suitable for our sessions, its recommended to speak to your GP 12 weeks post-partum before considering coming to class. Regular booking T&C apply and will not be refunded (if outside of our pre cancellation time frame)

Who can book a 1-2-1?
Anyone over the age of 10 is suitable! For private classes, I can cater for children over 10 and adults of all ages, no prior experience is necessary. Private sessions are the perfect way to tailor the class to an individuals needs. So if you'd like a faster or slower pace than our group sessions and a more direct, hands on approach, then having a private class is a great option. These are held at our studio (Unit 9, Hove Business Centre, Fonthill Road), or for an extra fee- a rig can be brought to your home or location of your choice (weather and location dependant). Please email us at brightonaerialarts@gmail.com for more info.

How do I book?
All group classes need to be pre booked and pre paid via the website or app in advance. There is a limited number of students per class in order to make sure everyone gets enough time up in the air! Private 1-2-1 classes need to be booked separately via email/website contact form, although you can 'request a time' via the classes page- but this is NOT  a confirmed booking. Once a time has been agreed and payment has been received (via bacs) you will get a booking confirmation for your private class.

What should I bring and wear?
You will need a water bottle and suitable clothing for class. For aerial, loose jewellery is not allowed, such as necklaces, large earrings etc small ear studs are ok at the risk of the wearer. No jewellery is allowed to be worn whilst using the hammocks, as it can tear the fabric. It is advisable to wear fitted clothing that covers armpits and also that will not catch on the equipment. If you have sensitive skin wearing a long sleeved top and long leggings can help to minimise the equipment rubbing on the elbows, back and backs of knee's which can become sore (especially in hot weather). Some students may want to double up on their leggings. Training/grip gloves are NOT advised unless you have an open wound on your hand. For acro and floor based training looser garments can be worn. We train in socks or (clean!) feet. No shoes are allowed inside the studio. Large bags and coats must be left outside as we do not have storage and lose items on the floor can become a trip hazard.

What happens if I am late to class?
You must be on time for class as doors are locked at the beginning of your class start time. We advise arriving 5 minutes prior to class to give yourself time to go to the loo or remove shoes etc. If you arrive late, you will not be permitted to train and you will not be refunded. The reason for this is that late students:
a) disrupt the flow of class
b) your class is pre planned and we cannot overun
c) repeating material for a singular student is unfair to those who arrived on time
d) all students need to complete the instructor led warm up for their own safety but also to adhere to our insurance policy.

Thank you for your understanding.

What equipment am I using?
Classes are taught from 6 swivel points in our 3m high ceiling.
